Easy Day

Took it easy today. We hit the pool at 9:30 am, had lunch, then strolled around the block. Big neighborhood. There are several high-rise buildings on our block next to the Corniche. Walking is tricky because there are no sidewalks like we are used to back home.

(above) We walked around the block across the street from us. Our block has a lot of construction going on, new and demolition so we headed back towards 26th st and Khalidiya. We walked back to our block along the green strip next to the road on the left.
(below) There's active demolition and construction going on behind and beside our apartment building. You can see our apartment building in the right image, middle building in back.

Sidewalks tend to be narrow, high and incomplete. So you do a lot of hopping up, down and then searching for the next bit of sidewalk. And always be on guard for traffic. People tend to walk slow and drive fast.

Though it is not summer, it sure seemed hot the more we walked. Thankfully, there are parks and palms on the Corniche side of the block, so plenty of opportunities to cool down. My knees are feeling sore from the walking and swimming today. We stopped by the local grocer and picked up some odds and ends. We needed more eggs, my son says the eggs are "really good" and better than back home. The yolks are really orange - he thought I had added cheese to them at breakfast.
My son starts school tomorrow and we have a desert outing planned for Friday. I'll take photos if I'm allowed.

Best.
